I have been actively developing software since the 90s when I connected via a 56K modem and animated GIFs were very popular. Twenty years later the connection is much faster and animated GIFs are still very popular.

Along the way, I have been part of some awesome development teams that have delivered great results but at times the experience has not been great mainly due to the way we have traditionally organized and managed our work.

In my current role as Office Director at FordLabs we are learning that great business outcomes and a great work experience are not mutually exclusive. We create balanced teams using Human Centered Design, Lean Startup Validation and eXtreme Programming to create awesome software product that users love and the team loves creating.
